What is infrastructure?

Many of our products and services refer to 'infrastructure', and you may not be sure precisely what that is. In I.T., infrastructure refers to anything technological that your business relies on to operate, such as network access, email, telephone and data backups.

What are operating systems and which ones do Zero Penalty support?

Operating Systems are the core software that run all computers. Microsoft Windows is likely the most familliar one to most computer users. Operating systems provide a common interface for applications such as Microsoft Word, or Internet Explorer to interface with the computer hardware. The operating system also provides the interface to the user. Zero Penalty provides support for all current and legacy operating systems. Some of the more common operating systems are FreeBSD, Linux, Microsoft Windows, Solaris, OpenBSD, NetBSD and IBM AIX.

What components make up a network and which products do Zero Penalty support?

Networks are made up of several components. The most common are routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls. Zero Penalty supports products from most vendors. Routers do the work of directing traffic from one location to another over large networks, including the Internet. Switches allow several computers to communicate with each other over a local network such as in an office or home. Firewalls are used to protect your network from outside intrusion and can also be used to restrict access outbound from your network. Load balancers allow provide redundancy and load distribution. Some of the more common vendors of network equiment are Cisco, Juniper and Foundry Networks.
